AIG Appoints Keith Walsh as Executive Vice President and CFO
American International Group, Inc. (NYSE: AIG) has announced the appointment of Keith Walsh as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer (CFO), effective October 21, 2024.

Walsh will report directly to AIG Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Peter Zaffino and will become a member of AIG’s Executive Leadership Team. Based in New York, he will lead the company’s global Finance organisation.

Zaffino, commented, saying: “Keith is a highly accomplished executive with deep financial expertise and significant investor experience in the financial services sector, particularly in the insurance industry. He will be a valuable addition to our leadership team and bring outstanding direction to our global Finance organisation.”

Walsh, who joins AIG with over 25 years of finance leadership experience, previously served as CFO at Marsh, a subsidiary of Marsh McLennan. He also held the role of Vice President and Head of Investor Relations at Marsh McLennan Companies from 2012 to 2017. Prior to that, he spent 14 years at Citi as an equity research analyst covering the insurance sector. Walsh holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University at Albany-SUNY and an MBA from NYU Stern School of Business.

Commenting on his new role, Walsh said: “AIG has executed an exceptional business and financial turnaround, and I am honored to join this iconic company in its next phase of industry leadership and growth. I look forward to working with Peter and the executive leadership team, as well as leading AIG’s talented global Finance organisation, to continue delivering for our stakeholders and enhancing shareholder value.”

Walsh succeeds Sabra Purtill, who has served as AIG’s CFO since January 2023. Ms. Purtill will continue to report to Zaffino, working on strategic projects and serving as an advisor to Mr. Walsh during the transition period. Having joined AIG in 2019, Ms. Purtill held several senior leadership roles, including Chief Risk Officer and Chief Investment Officer of Corebridge Financial, before returning as CFO earlier this year.

Reflecting on Ms. Purtill’s contributions, Zaffino stated: Sabra played a critical role in AIG’s transformation, taking on complex leadership positions during pivotal moments.”

He added: “Her many accomplishments include helping to enhance our profile with stakeholders and focusing the company on maximising shareholder value as a leading global insurer. We are grateful for her significant contributions.”
