AXA UK & Ireland Announces Appointment of Rahul Gumber as Chief Risk Officer
AXA UK & Ireland has announced the appointment of Rahul Gumber as its new Chief Risk Officer, pending regulatory approval.

Gumber will succeed David Baker, who is stepping down after five years in the role to focus on a non-executive portfolio.

Gumber brings a wealth of experience from Aviva Canada, where he currently serves as Chief Risk Officer, leading the second line risk and compliance team. His previous role as Chief Risk Officer at Aviva Ireland further solidifies his reputation for building cohesive, high-performing teams. In addition to his leadership credentials, Gumber is a strong advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion. He is set to take up his new position at AXA UK early in the new year, with a smooth handover process planned.

Expressing his enthusiasm for the role, Gumber commented, “I’m delighted to be returning to the UK to join AXA UK & Ireland at such an exciting time for the business. I look forward to supporting the future success of AXA UK&I and building on the great work David has done. AXA is a great company with a great brand, and I’m thrilled to be joining the team.”

Tara Foley, CEO of AXA UK & Ireland, welcomed Gumber’s appointment, stating, “I’m excited to welcome Rahul to our team. He has a deep understanding of the insurance sector, the regulatory landscape, and the commercial dynamics of our industry. His strong leadership qualities and strategic thinking are evident, as is his track record of building cohesive, high-performing teams. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank David Baker for his support and commitment over the past five years and wish him the very best in his next chapter.”
