Former Stripe Executive Patricia Walsh, is Appointed New EVP for AIG
American International Group, Inc. (AIG) has announced the appointment of Patricia Walsh as its Executive Vice President and General Counsel, effective December 1, 2023. This decision underscores AIG's commitment to bolstering its leadership team with seasoned professionals.

Reporting directly to AIG’s Chairman & CEO, Peter Zaffino, Walsh is set to play a pivotal role as part of AIG’s Executive Leadership Team. Until Walsh officially assumes her role, Rose Marie Glazer will continue as Interim General Counsel.

Walsh, an industry veteran, brings a wealth of experience to her new position. Her extensive background includes her most recent role at Stripe, where she served as General Counsel and Corporate Secretary, overseeing all legal and regulatory aspects of the company. Notably, Walsh has been a Director on the Board of Corebridge Financial since September 2022 and also holds a position on the Board of Mt. Holyoke College.

Zaffino commented on the appointment, “Trish is a top legal expert in financial services, with considerable insurance industry knowledge, customer focus, and experience navigating today’s financial and regulatory environment.

In her capacity as Executive Vice President and General Counsel at AIG, Walsh will shoulder the responsibility of overseeing AIG’s legal, compliance, and regulatory functions. Additionally, she will lead the charge in managing government affairs for the company.

Walsh’s career highlights include serving as Executive Vice President & Chief Legal Officer of Voya Financial, and holding key roles such as Deputy General Counsel at Cigna Corp. and at MassMutual Life Insurance Company. Her earlier career involved working as an associate at Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP and contributing to the Office of the General Counsel at the SEC.
