In a strategic move, Generali has officially named Giulio Terzariol as the Chief Executive Officer of Insurance, a pivotal role that will encompass leadership across all insurance Business Units.
The appointment, slated to take effect in January 2024, marks a significant development for the renowned insurance company.
Terzariol’s mandate as CEO Insurance involves the comprehensive oversight of the various Insurance Business Units within Generali. This includes the units dedicated to Italy, DACH (encompassing Germany, Austria, and Switzerland), France & Global Business Activities (encompassing Europe Assistance and Global Business Lines), and International (encompassing regions CEE, Mediterranean & Latin America, and Asia).
Generali, a stalwart in the insurance industry, expressed confidence in Terzariol’s ability to steer the ship and lead the diverse portfolio of Insurance Business Units toward sustained growth and success. This strategic appointment aligns with Generali’s commitment to enhancing its leadership structure and reinforcing its position in the global insurance landscape.
Giulio Terzariol’s assumption of the CEO Insurance role is anticipated to bring a fresh perspective and strategic direction to Generali’s insurance operations, further solidifying the company’s standing as a key player in the industry.
“The creation of the new Division further enhances coordination, effectiveness, and strategic alignment across geographies, streamlining and simplifying the Group organisational model, and contributing to the achievement of the objectives of the strategic plan ‘Lifetime Partner 24: Driving Growth’,” Generali said.
He comes on board with the Generali leadership squad, transitioning from Allianz SE. With over two decades of experience there, he held various management roles, culminating in his recent position as a Member of the Board of Management and Group Chief Financial Officer.
Terzariol earned his master’s degree in business administration from Bocconi University Milan. His insurance career commenced at Generali Versicherung in Munich and Vienna, and in 1998, he transitioned to Allianz SE.
In his newly appointed position, Terzariol will be reporting directly to Generali Group CEO, Philippe Donnet. Additionally, he will become a valued member of the Group Management Committee of Assicurazioni Generali.
Donnet commented, “We are proud to welcome Giulio Terzariol as CEO Insurance at Generali. We will benefit from the wealth of experience that Giulio is bringing to the Group, leading teams in different countries across the world.
“It is an exciting time for Generali, as demonstrated by the success of our strategy, strong financial position and profitable growth.
He added: “I am confident that with the addition of Giulio to our leadership team, recently recognized by the market as the best in Europe, we will continue to strengthen our position in the insurance sector.”
