Julian Teicke Steps Down as CEO of wefox
Julian Teicke, co-founder and CEO of wefox, has made the decision to transition to the President role on the insurtech's board of directors.

In an announcement, Teicke expressed his conviction that this move will enable him to continue providing strategic guidance to wefox while dedicating more time to nurturing emerging ventures in various sectors.

Teicke hands over the role to Mark Hartigan, who brings a wealth of experience to the table, having served in various leadership roles throughout his esteemed career. His previous positions include serving as Chief Executive at LV= and Head of Operations for Europe Middle East and Africa at Zurich Insurance Group. Mark also held the role of Chief Executive Officer for Zurich Global Life in the Asia Pacific and Middle East region, where he successfully led regional business operations across Europe.

Hartigan’s journey in the financial services sector began as a broker, paving the way for him to assume diverse roles within the insurance industry. Renowned for his adeptness in steering complex transformations and spearheading business development initiatives, Mark has assumed chairman and board member positions in regulatory environments spanning Singapore, Australia, the UK, the Isle of Man, and Switzerland.

He holds a Masters degree from King’s College London, underpinning his academic prowess and strategic acumen in the insurance landscape. His multifaceted expertise and track record of driving operational excellence position him as a valuable addition to any board or executive team.

His full statement released on social media, reads: “After several months of reflections I have decided to transition to the President role in the board of wefox. It is the best way for me to continue provide strategic guidance while at the same time allocating more time to helping founders build the next wefoxes in their respective sectors. My passion is wefox and my passion is building.

“I started building wefox almost nine years ago alongside Dario and Fabian in our shared flat in Zürich. Last year we achieved almost €800 million in revenues. We have improved our profitability by more than 40% and have established a solid foundation. We now partner with more than 300 insurance companies and more than 4‘000 distribution partners to offer a great insurance experience to almost three million customers in six countries across Europe. In only a few years wefox has become a leading insurtech. I am very proud of what we have achieved together so far and looking forward to what is to come!

“In my new role I will continue to shape the strategy of wefox. We have asked Mark Hartigan to step in as the CEO and I am happy and grateful that he agreed to lead wefox into the next chapter. I got Mark on board last year, have worked alongside him since then and trust that he has what it takes as I believe: He loves wefox, has the right set of values and is a very strong operator with a clear sense of setting the right priorities for wefox to achieve our goals.

“Change is a fundamental part of both business and success and this step is the right step for wefox and for me personally. It allows me to maximise my impact for wefox while allowing me to focus more time and energy on my other big passion: supporting founders in building up their own ventures and giving them the audacity to dream big to build industry leading ventures. That is what we do with The Delta – the venture studio I have founded almost 10 years ago: You will soon hear more news!”

He added: “I look forward to the next chapter of wefox and pass the captain‘s armband to Mark [Hartigan].”
