Empathy, the comprehensive support system provider for the bereaved, will facilitate the product and can help families navigate the logistical aspects of loss, including estate settlement, executing a will, and more, as well as any emotional challenges they may be facing.
It can take families a very long time to resolve these affairs, spending upwards of 20 hours per week on these tasks. Seventy-five percent of beneficiaries struggle with these matters and report negative effects at work due to their loss.
Lincoln will now offer these services, ensuring people do not feel lonely after losing a loved one. These products will be available to all customers who have purchased Lincoln Life Insurance through the workplace.
Heather Deichler, (pictured) Lincoln’s Group Protection Head of Product and Underwriting, commented: “We are committed to being there for our customers and their families, especially when they need us most. We want to help our beneficiaries resolve their claims quickly, support them beyond the financial component, and provide ongoing assistance through their loss. We’re proud to offer this concierge-level service so that they can get the support they need during these incredibly difficult times.”
Empathy’s services will be offered to beneficiaries of Group Life policies when they make their claim. They are provided with on-demand support and personalised plans on a variety of topics, with benefits that include:
A dedicated care manager is assigned to each beneficiary, providing personalised support and guidance through the challenges of loss. This care manager creates a tailored care plan with clear, actionable steps to meet the specific needs of each family, ensuring that all necessary tasks are completed.
In addition to this personalised support, beneficiaries receive step-by-step assistance with probate and estate settlement, helping them navigate the legal processes involved. They also have access to various tools and resources, including help with closing accounts, creating an obituary, and expert guidance to support them through the complexities of grief.
