Redactable Secures $5.5 Million in Seed Funding for Groundbreaking AI Redaction Platform
Redactable, a cutting-edge AI-driven web application specialising in the redaction of sensitive documents, has successfully raised $5.5 million in seed funding.

The funding round was spearheaded by Gradient Ventures, the AI-focused venture fund backed by Google, and saw participation from Wocstar Fund, earlier pre-seed investors, and a cadre of influential angel investors.

Redactable’s revolutionary AI platform is designed to detect and permanently redact sensitive information in documents, presenting a reliable solution for companies grappling with data privacy concerns. The latest injection of funds comes more than a year after Redactable secured an initial $1.3 million in pre-seed funding, with support from notable investors such as Everywhere Ventures, Hustle Fund, Revelry, and Stony Lonesome Group. These early investments played a pivotal role in launching the platform successfully in July 2022.

In an era dominated by digital information exchange, the relevance of Redactable’s solution is increasingly evident. Traditional PDF editing tools and legacy software often fall short in fully concealing confidential data, exposing a potential risk of data breaches. Redactable’s platform addresses this critical challenge by offering a secure and efficient redaction process.

The significance of Redactable’s technology is further underscored by a recent $1.25 million contract with the US Air Force. This contract will leverage Redactable’s patented software to safeguard sensitive documents and streamline essential business processes within the Department of the Air Force (DAF). As organisations worldwide seek robust solutions for data protection, Redactable’s success marks a significant step forward in meeting the evolving demands of the digital age.

Amanda Levay, Redactable’s founder and CEO, highlights the growing need for secure data sharing. “With so much confidential information being shared electronically, the risk of data vulnerability for both individuals and organisations is increasing exponentially. Too much time is spent using black markers or drawing boxes over sensitive data, which is not only inefficient but also ineffective.”
