Both Claudia Dill and Redmond Murphy will now serve as members of the Executive Committee.
Claudia Dill, an industry veteran, has assumed the role of Chief Operating Officer (COO) at SCOR. In her capacity as COO, Dill will take on the crucial responsibility of shaping and executing the Group’s strategic initiatives centered around operational efficiency, automation, digitization, effectiveness, and resilience.
These initiatives are aligned with the targets outlined in SCOR’s newly unveiled three-year strategic plan, Forward 2026. Notably, she will also join the Executive Committee, overseeing Technology, Transformation, Global Real Estate, and Regional Services Platforms. Claudia Dill will be based in Zurich and will report directly to SCOR’s CEO, Thierry Léger. Her official appointment will commence on November 1st, 2023.
Dill brings a wealth of experience to her new role, having served at Zurich Insurance Group from 1999 to 2020, where she held various managerial positions in Zurich, New York, and São Paulo. Her roles at Zurich included serving as CFO for internal reinsurance and the reinsurance run-off unit, CFO for the European business, and COO for the global property and casualty business.
Her most recent position was CEO of the Latin American business, where she was also a member of the Group Executive Committee. Prior to her time at Zurich, she held various specialist and management roles at Credit Suisse, Deutsche Bank, Commerzbank, and Coopers and Lybrand. In recent years, Claudia Dill has focused on non-executive roles in publicly listed and private companies in the banking and insurance sectors.
Meanwhile, Redmond Murphy will assume a pivotal role, overseeing the Life & Health business in North America, a region of strategic importance to SCOR’s three-year plan, Forward 2026. Based in Dublin, he will report directly to Frieder Knüpling, CEO of SCOR Life & Health, with his official appointment also commencing on November 1st, 2023.
Murphy joined SCOR in 2014, initially serving as the CFO of SCOR Global Life Reinsurance Ireland. He has held several senior positions within SCOR, primarily in the Life & Health and Finance divisions. In his most recent capacity, he served as the Deputy Group CFO and Group Head of Business Performance. In this role, he was responsible for financial planning and analysis, capital management, liquidity management, performance management, and the oversight of SCOR’s activities in Ireland. Before this, Murphy played an integral role in the Life & Health Leadership Team, overseeing Business Performance, including Business Acceptance, Finance, Actuarial, and the management of SCOR’s operations in Ireland.
Thierry Léger, Chief Executive Officer of SCOR, said of the appointments, “I am very pleased to welcome Claudia and Redmond to the Executive Committee. Claudia brings with her more than 25 years of executive and board experience in banking and insurance, working in finance, operations and technology as well as business roles. She has all the qualities needed to progress the Group’s transformation to a data and tech-enabled company.
“Redmond knows our Life & Health business inside out, having spent seven years successfully managing numerous L&H projects before joining the Group Finance department where he has been instrumental in implementing the new IFRS 17 accounting framework. In his new role, Redmond will continue to strengthen our L&H leadership role in North America. I wish both of them every success in their new roles and all the members of the Executive Committee look forward to working alongside them.”
