Sky, the UK-based telecommunications giant, has partnered with Zurich Insurance to launch a new smart home protection service that offers customers home insurance and smart home technology worth £250 (US$311.95).

Called the Sky Protect Smart Home Insurance package, the cover is underwritten by Zurich Insurance and features a suite of smart home tech products, including a video doorbell, indoor camera, leak detectors, motion sensor, and contact sensors. Customers can view their devices through an all-in-one app.

According to research conducted by Sky, over a quarter (27%) of those polled are considering purchasing new smart technology this year. More than a third (38%) of people cite the reasons for this as making them feel safer when away from home, allowing them to protect their home from intruders (33%) as well as increasing energy efficiency and saving money (28%).
