The policy outlines how employees can move upwards or laterally, both within their own department or into other areas of the business. The policy’s aim is to help Zego retain the very best talent by affording employees the opportunity to grow and develop in a way that suits them.

The policy, which was introduced this week, aims to inspire and support staff who are thinking of a career change. The process of seconding to another area in the business also provides a fantastic opportunity for staff to develop their skills and try their hand at another discipline within the company, before taking on a new role or looking for opportunities outside of Zego. The policy has already been utilised by Zego employees, with numerous customer service staff having transitioned into roles across compliance, IT, marketing and engineering.
Zego’s internal mobility policy is part of a much wider effort to create an inclusive workplace that values inclusion and diversity, but that also supports each employee’s needs and aspirations. The launch of the policy follows the recent introduction of paid leave for employees who suffer pregnancy loss, as well as the introduction of clear guidelines to support trans and non-binary staff.
Kingsley Macy, Chief People Officer at Zego, said: “This policy reflects the evolution of attitudes towards careers. Many jobs are far more multidisciplinary than they used to be and people value the opportunity to try new roles and even change careers. Rather than blocking this ambition, Zego wants to facilitate and support our employees in producing their very best work, no matter the business area. We have already seen how this helps us retain the best talent while bringing personal growth, development and happiness to the individual too.”
